Two weeks ago tennis champion, Roger Federer let slip that he would be playing a charity match against his long-time rival and friend, Rafael Nadal in Cape Town next year. Along with the exciting news, and to add a touch of humour, it was also confirmed that another match would also take place prior to the main event – a pro-doubles match between Federer and Bill Gates vs. Nadal and Trevor Noah!
Federer and Nadal will go head to head in the Mother City to raise funds for the Roger Federer Foundation which will go towards education in Africa. The match will be hosted at 8 pm on February 7, 2020, at the Cape Town Stadium. The legendary pair are also aiming to break the world record for the highest attendance numbers for a tennis match – the current record event was between Kim Clijsters (Belgium) and Serena Williams (USA) 6-3, 6-2 at King Baudouin in Brussels, Belgium, on 8 July 2010 with an attendance of 35681 people.
Tickets for the Federer Nadal charity tournament are only expected to go on sale in September and no prices have been announced yet but you can officially register for them meantime, right here.
