It seems like there’s a big revival of acts we grew up listening to, with Scottish alternative pop/rock band TEXAS, being the latest to join the list of artists on their way to South Africa to see their adoring fans.
The UK’s singer-songwriter Emily Capell will be performing at Cape Town’s Kirstenbosch Gardens along with Henry Ate and TEXAS, while Emily will also perform at the Jozi show with Henry Ate and pop-rock sensation Monark.
Since hitting the South African music scene in May 2013 with “Smiling”, Monark has changed the landscape of pop and rock music in the country. The four-piece band deliver energetic and polished live performances that are incredibly well received by fans, with Monark performing on some of the top stages across the country. Monark has received numerous nominations, including a SAMA for Best Pop Album and Record of the Year. They have just released their new single ‘Show Me The Love’ to huge acclaim and airplay. Be ready for an incredible show with these boys from Potch!
Emily Capell is a singer-songwriter and musician from North West London. Her songs tell stories of celebrity lust, musical influences, and general adolescence. Capell, whose musical stylings draw from a pool deep and wide, is affectionately described as sounding like the adopted daughter of Jamie T and Billy Bragg, and a distant relative of The Clash and The Libertines.
Henry Ate spent much of the late 90’s and 2000’s releasing chart-topping albums, touring the world and performing alongside legends like Skunk Anansie. Performing together for the first time since 2006, front woman Karma and a series of well-known session musicians promise to deliver an unforgettable set featuring hits like Just, Hey Mister, Henry, Eudaimonia, One Day Soon, Life, And And And and many more.
For over three decades, headliners TEXAS have produced worldwide hits like Summer Son, I Don’t Want a Lover, Say What You Want, Halo, Everyday Now and Tell Me Why. TEXAS Live in South Africa for the First Time, Playing All Their Hits tour visits Cape Town on Friday 8 December and Johannesburg on Sunday 10 December 2017.
