Wilgenhof CARRY 6 PACKER

Here’s an interesting little event that I’ve just found out about in Stellenbosch. Every year, the annual Wilgenhof CARRY 6 PACKER is an event that focuses on offering live music to the town famous for drunk students and wine. This year the CARRY 6 PACKER takes place on Friday, the 13th of April and it features the likes of Goldfish as well Haezer, Zinkplaat and 3rd World Spectator. Tickets are R50 pre-sold at Wilgenhof and also in the Neelsie (both of these places are at the University), or R60 at the gate. Gates open at 18h00.

Some dish about the acts:

GOLDFISH

Voted by DJ Mag Top 100 as the 2nd top DJ Act in South Africa, GOLDFISH needs no introduction.  So I won’t bother.

HAEZER

One of South Africa’s most renowned electro/trash producers, HAEZER has just returned from Thailand in January where he was invited by Smirnoff Thailand to headline their CNX event in Chiang Mai. He is one of SA’s finest musical talents- he’s the business.

ZINKPLAAT

Afrikaans roots rockers, ZINKPLAAT, who crawled from Die Eerste River in Stellenbosch around the start of this century, went on to become the town’s favourite musical export. Veterans in their own right, they have played at Willows and the Carry 6 Packer more times than they can remember. They have spent the past 10 years trying to play every stage in the country, as well as a couple in Great Britain and Mozambique. They are currently holed up in their secret hide-out on a farm outside Stellenbosch working on their fifth studio album to be released 10 minutes before the end of the world at 19:20 on 21 December 2012.

3RD WORLD SPECTATOR

3RD WORLD SPECTATOR completed work on their much anticipated debut full length album entitled The Theory of Everything last year. The album was recorded at Sunset Recording Studios with award winning producer and engineer Jürgen von Wechmar (Springbok Nude Girls, Foto Na Dans, Jax Panik, Karen Zoid) and mastered by John Davis (U2, Florence + The Machine, The Prodigy, Snow Patrol) at Metropolis Studios in London. In June 2011, 3rd World Spectator signed a record deal with Universal Music and the album was released at the start of November to great acclaim. The lead single from the album, “Ambulance” has claimed positions on radio and digital charts around the country, cracking the National Top 40. The accompanying video produced by Silverlining Pictures is currently in the MK Top 10.

Im a guy with a very particular view of life... im not quite sure what that view is just yet, but when I find out I'll be sure to let you know...
