The mention of the name Ralf Gum brings soulful smiles to life. With the release of the highly anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Progressions’, the German-born producer and DJ, is gearing to once again set dancefloors alight. Residing in South Africa, Ralf Gum’s connection to the country and its people is palpable through the beats and lyrics of his music. ‘Progressions’ affords a journey through “soulful, afro and earthy grooves”. It features the soulful single –‘Uyakhala’ – a spiritual song in collaboration with South African legends, Mafikizolo. The song tells the story of the African ideology: “it takes a village to raise a child” or “a person is a person through other people”. The album also features singles ‘Back To Love’ feat. Joseph Junior and Ayanda Jiya, and ‘We Repeat’ feat. Paul Randolph. House Music fans will be pleased to know the powerhouse New York Songbird Monique Bingham also features on the album. – We House Sunday
