Missy Elliott was recently awarded the’ Video Vanguard Award’ at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards which took place on Monday this week. The hip-hop and rap legend performed a medley of all her hit tracks, including ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly’, ‘Get Ur Freak On’, ‘Work It’, ‘Pass That Dutch’ and ‘Lose Control.’ Her performance was a celebration of her-career long success and the very songs that catapulted her into stardom and solidified Missy as one of the most respected and influential females in Hip-Hop.

The medley opens with her new track titled “Throw it Back”, which was released last Friday as part of her surprise Iconology EP. Then in a poetic gesture, Missy mixes her brand new track with her very first track ever, ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),’ segueing the basslines before moving through her hits in chronological order.

In an even more spectacular moment, during her performance of “Work It”, Elliot welcomes back dancer Alyson Stoner on stage – the original baby-faced dancer who featured in all Elliot’s biggest videos back in the early 2000s – all grown up now, Stoner proves she’s still got the moves.
