Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is a fearless black market mercenary who embarks on the deadliest mission of his career when he’s enlisted to rescue the kidnapped son of an international crime lord. Directed by Sam Hargrave, this action-packed, edge-of-your-seat thriller is produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, the visionary directors of Avengers: Endgame.
It received mixed reviews from critics including a 63% score from Rotten Tomatoes, who praised Hemsworth’s performance and the stunt work but lamented the story and excessive violence. On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 56 out of 100, based on 29 critics, indicating “mixed or average reviews”. It’s also interesting to note that the film’s title was changed from Out of the Fire, before the film’s final title was revealed to be Extraction on February 19, 2020.
