On 26th October, Black Diamonds Communications in partnership with the City of Tshwane bring you Tshwane Pink October. If you didn’t know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.
The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer as well as providing a platform for cancer associations to raise awareness of their work and of the disease. October is also a prime opportunity to remind women to be breast aware for earlier detection. The Tshwane Pink October is an annual breast cancer awareness luncheon that is going to be held at the Velmore Hotel and Conference Estate in partnership with the city of Tshwane in support of International Breast Cancer Month. Breast cancer is no longer seen as a disease that affects only elderly women or a certain race – it’s important that all mooiness out there get tested and learn as much as they can about the disease.
Women from different backgrounds will spend the day learning about the disease which affects so many from all background. The afternoon is not just about breast cancer awareness but overall wellness with speakers from the health department, nutritionists and wellness experts. This campaign is also raising funds for a mobile mammogram which will visit clinics around the Pretoria / Tshwane region for breast screening – so good event all round.
Topics for the Day include early detection, the importance and teaching women how to examine their own breasts to check for abnormalities. Fitness and wellness experts, motivational speakers as well as breast cancer survivors will be present to share their stories too.
