To Catch a Predator – Rustenburg Girls High Benefit Concert

Now before I get called all sorts of names by concerned parents, let me just say – the concert is not actually called “To Catch a Predator” but it IS taking place at Rustenburg Girls High. I was once at that all-boys school, near to Rustybugs and I’m well aware that events like this are what a teenage boy looks forward to all year – with the only difference with this particular concert being that it features a bunch of fairly rad acts and that it is open to the public.

Take six great acts, put them in the same place during Summer and the masses will come. On the night you’ll get to see macstanley, who have just released their long-awaited new CD Lucid, Live and Dreaming, the Rudimentals who will provide a ska/reggae vibe, Goodluck for a bit of electro swing, Natasha Meister with some Mo-town blues, Oxygen Thieves and the incredible talent of the Delft Big Brass Band.

The concert is a fundraiser for the school and to raise funds so that the Delft Big Brass Band can tour with Rustenburg to Beijing in 2014 for the Music World Tiutti Festival – which in my opinion is great reason to get out. Concert-goers will be able to picnic on the lawns while enjoying great music, during the concert on 9 February from 4 to 10pm at Rustenburg Girls’ High School fields. However… I’m pretty sure that sexual predators are not allowed at this particular event – so… don’t be that guy.

Concert-goers are invited to bring along their own picnics, and food will be sold at the event. There will be a children’s play area available.

Tickets cost R150 for adults, R120 for scholars, while children under eight get in free.

Please note the school is an alcohol-free zone (once again… don’t be that guy).

Tickets can be booked at
