The fourth Thor film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) shapes up to be something a little different, according to star Chris Hemsworth.
After the first two Thor movies struggled to impact fans significantly, Marvel Studios and Walt Disney went in a completely new direction with the third film Thor: Ragnarok by bringing in New Zealand director Taika Waititi and went with a much more light-hearted and humorous tone. It proved to be a masterstroke, with the film landing well with cinema-goers and effectively reestablishing Thor’s standalone series as a key component of the MCU.

Marvel’s Thor is hugely admired among fans which is why its character has been reproduced with much success across several media. The superhero is a character in the recently released Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel Puzzle Quest video games. Furthermore, the popularity of Thor can be also seen in Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers motion comics and novels like Thor: Dueling with Giants. Even an official themed slot, Thor’s Lightning, is available at no deposit bonus casinos such as Sloty Casino.
So it came as a little bit of a shock when Hemsworth leaked that the fourth film would also be a bit different from anything people have seen before. But fear not Thor fans, he was referring mostly to the plot, we think, rather than the tone because most of the cast and crew have been retained from Ragnarok, including Waititi as director, Hemsworth as Thor. They are reportedly even bringing back Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster, who hasn’t been seen since the first movie.
Hemsworth is most likely talking about the direction the story will take, with rumours suggesting the script is based on one of the most popular Thor comics in which he becomes unworthy to wield his hammer and is replaced by Portman’s character as a female God of Thunder. If that does turn out to be the case, it will undoubtedly be quite a risky route to consider the popularity of Hemsworth’s version of Thor, but it is certainly a story worth telling.

In terms of tone, look, and feel, the film will in all likelihood retain its light-hearted and humorous atmosphere with Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord character from Guardians of the Galaxy also set to make an appearance. Vin Diesel teased that Groot and some of the other Guardians would also make cameos. Christian Bale has been confirmed for the film, although his exact role has not been revealed.
