Commissioned by the state of San Francisco to create 23 cartoon-like, whimsical shadows across the Bay Area – well known for its creative atmosphere – graphic artist Damon Belanger took to the brief and set out to create something interactive and unique. Belanger told the San Mateo Daily Journal that he felt “The shadows give regular, mundane objects a lively spirit so people can have a little fun in their everyday life,”
The theme of the brief was centered around robots and cartoons who appear playful and whimsical. Belanger crafts his characters out in chalk first and completes the work with grey paint – simple and sweet and we do mean sweet, just look at these incredible shots of his work. These little street creatures are sure to put a smile on any passerby’s face.
