After the dominance of Gordan Gekko and Oliver Stone’s Wall Street franchise, that, for all intents and purposes, dominated filmatic representations of the egotistical and slightly maniacal underbelly of Wall Street bankers, Martin Scorsese has entered the fray. The self indulgence of midget tossing and taping money to strippers finds a solace in The Wolf of Wall Street. Leo takes the lead, a protégé of the epic director, having been seen in the Aviator and Shutter Island. And while his hunger for cold hard cash, sexual deviance and chic narcissism might not endear him to the 99%, after watching this trailer, I think it’s safe to say that we all still want to be him. A star studded cast accompany the once mentally handicapped brother of Gilbert Grape, with Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, and Matthew McConaughey making up a mouth watering piece of high entertainment.
On the side, it has recently been announced that Martin will direct the upcoming feature Sinatra, so misogyny, obscene wealth and midget tossing seems to be a stern favourite in the Hollywood frontman’s future repertoire.
