THE REVIEW: Alien Safari Sprung 2017

Spring has Sprung and GonZo is here once again to welcome you back to Cape Town's outdoor season...

The OFFICIAL opening of Cape Towns’ outdoor season is finally upon us and with that comes a look into the festival. This is GONZO once again with a dive into Alien Safari’s Spring Gathering, conveniently named Sprung.

With the AS team holding an arsenal of fixtures throughout one season, Sprung is sometimes seen to be “Dark Horse” amongst Alien Safari events due to the musical journey it seems to exhibit.

A real out-and-out psychedelic experience is what you can expect from the event, focusing on a much more cultured palate for a harder, more full-on taste clearly seen at the portrayal of their Sunday roster which tends to steer away from the conforming progressive closure of today’s festivals. Last year being the most notable with Earthling, The Rave Commission & Sonic Species as well as a massive showcasing of GMS back in 2014 & KIM in 2015.

The infamous Silverstroom venue has become a mainstay with Sprung as of late and the Alien Safari team have confirmed that this will the last year that one can experience the gathering at this venue, which tends to be bittersweet as we look to the past but can march into the future knowing that the team have something sneaky up their sleeve for 2018.
