The Ndlovu Youth Choir recently returned to South Africa for a short while after making it to the finals in one of the world’s biggest talent competitions and TV shows, America’s Got Talent. While the choir didn’t take first place on AGT, they did receive a generous R 1 million cheque from the government, a recording deal from music mogul and AGT co-founder, Simon Cowell and a recent tour to the Netherlands.
Choir director Ralf Schmitt revealed to 702’s Afternoon Drive last month that the choir had been offered a recording deal by AGT co-founder, Simon Cowell but did not confirm if the deal was accepted only saying that the choir was working on an album.
In more exciting news, The Ndlovu Youth Choir performed to three sold-out shows in the Netherlands over the past weekend where they also recieved standing ovations. Their first show took place in Utrecht while the second show (and extra show due to demand) was held in Oosterhoek. When reflecting on their performances on Twitter, the choir said that it was “crazy and they loved every minute of it.” Take a look at some tour clips below and read more on the latest local news right here.
Sound check in Oosterhout. Two shows today! We sold out the theatre once, arranged an extra show, and sold it out again! 🇿🇦🙌🏾🇳🇱🔥 pic.twitter.com/u9s00hoom8
