We had the chance to head to a special pre-release screening of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON thanks to Nu Metro Cinemas ahead of the film’s release to the South African public, a week ahead of most of the globe – just in time for the Freedom Day long weekend.
For those not in the know, Marvel’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON was largely filmed in the Johannesburg CBD with bits and pieces of the iconic Gauteng skyline littered through the film. Not giving too much away, the epic follow-up to the biggest Superhero movie of all time – AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON kicks off when Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program. Things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance.
As the villainous Ultron (James Spader) emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure – with additional support from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).
Apart from the opportunity to see one of this year’s most highly-anticipated blockbusters ahead of general cinema release, Nu Metro Cinemas will also be launching their brand new “And The Winner Is…” campaign this week – rewarding cinema-goers each time to go to see one of the highly rated box office hits lined up for the next few months. So, everyone is a winner if you really love going the movies!
