WELCOME TO THE ALLIANCE.

The Alliance is a group of like-minded thinkers and creatives that have come together to bring you a series of electronic-based initiatives and events over the next four months at The Assembly. Our aim is to support the growth and development of the electronic music scene, and bring it to Cape Town audiences on a level that has been missing in the club scene for a long time.

The Alliance Series will span over 4 months with events showcasing South Africa’s top electronic artists and supportive brands at The Assembly.

Stay Tuned as we release more info about The Alliance series, it’s partners, events and DJ lineups in the coming weeks.

BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS
A DJ/producer of considered taste and integrity, Battle Beyond the Stars helped bring EDM to the Cape Town scene when it was still alternative through his nu electro event series Get Nasty, and continues to be a force through his solo work and as cofounder of After Hours.

REBEL CLEF vs BLOTCHY
As cofounders and residents of the event series-turned-institution Cold Turkey, Rebel Clef and Blotchy have been instrumental in bringing together the people of Cape Town and popularizing the bass sound.

DJ INVIZABLE
The mysterious DJ/producer behind afro-electro-funk act Gazelle has struck out on his own to represent the Imperial House of Afrika for The Alliance, with his unmistakeable dance moves and inescapable groove.

LIVER
A local legend now living in Johannesburg, Liver was one of the key players in shaping the sound of South African electronic music, not to mention his role as a cofounder of Dont Party and current part of the Gravy collective.

HYPHEN vs SFR
Two of the biggest names in South African electronic music and rightly so, any set by SFR or Hyphen makes it clear why they’re on top. With a strong foundation in drum ‘n’ bass and dustup and a mastery of all bass styles, Hyphen and SFR are old friends of The Assembly and an integral part of The Alliance.

GRIMEHOUSE
A South African fan favorite and champion of the grimier styles of electronic music, Grimehouse has seen his original productions bring him alongside EDM giants Figure and Mad Decent Records. With a strong following around the country and under his hardstyle alter ego Psycho Keaton, The Alliance is proud to have Grimehouse tearing down the main stage for the night.

BUTTON BASHERS – Young Supreme
A bimonthly beat initiative started by The Assembly and founders/residents Desert_Head, Young Supreme and Running/Scissors, Button Bashers regularly brings four local producers and puts them to the test – one week to flip a sample and perform the beat live for the crowd and a panel of Cape Town producers to decide.

REVERB – George Daniel
An initiative from George Daniel and The Assembly, Reverb seeks out the undiscovered DJ talent of Cape Town and gives them their biggest platform yet. With an open call for mixes, DJ supreme George Daniel taps the most promising for bimonthly installments, and represents for The Alliance.

DO WORK RECORDS – Leechi
The brainchild of rising star Das Kapital and manager Tim Medcraft, Do Work Records seek to push the best in South African electronic music to the world. They join The Alliance for an event in August, with wunderkind Leechi representing them for the launch.

GAARTJIE – JakobSnake vs WhiteNite
Gaartjie is a new force in South African music, representing a collective of cutting-edge artists and DJs from around the country. Stay tuned for details for their pre-launch party within The Alliance, and catch them in The Annex for the return of the Elite Selling Krew with JakobSnake and Leggo founder White Nite.

MYCITYBYNIGHT – Plaigarhythm
The boys of MyCityByNight bring Cape Town the latest in nightlife, entertainment and lifestyle on a daily basis, and regularly at The Assembly with their own curated event series. MCBN resident DJ and local veteran Plaigarhythm holds it down for them in The Annex for The Alliance launch.

Rumoured to have the blue-prints for Krang's TechnoDrome, stolen straight from Dimension X, he’s the type of guy who exudes so much coolness that he adds whole countries on Facebook at one time instead of just people. Always up for a party and a Tequila shot or two this is the guy who we always call first, both before and after a night out…
