Earlier this month Pretoria made headlines when a vintage plane set for international departure crashed only minutes after taking off. The crash sadly left two people dead and both pilots critically injured.
The vintage, Convair 340 that first flew in 1954 was on route to Aviodrome‚ a Dutch Aviation Museum that had purchased the plane months ago. According to Brenda Vos – communications manager at Rovos Rail- there had been no safety concerns regarding the plane all stating that “The plane‚ as far as I know‚ had passed all the tests.”
The South African Civil Aviation Authority is still investigating.
