The South African Mint has announced its new set of coins celebrating 25 years of constitutional democracy.

The new edition of coins will feature a series of 2 Rand coins and a new 5 Rand coin. The R2 coins will highlight important human rights such as children’s rights, the right to education and environmental rights.

The new R5 coin will celebrate and depict the first national election held in 1994. The coins will be released into circulation after they are presented at the Constitutional Court later this year in June.
