The very first Adidas sneaker designed and created by South African brand was recently unveiled. The new top-end sneaker was created in collaboration with local retail collective Shelflife and is the first collaboration of its kind between Adidas and an African company.
The Adidas Consortium x Shelflife ZX 4000 sneaker is an update of an Adidas sneaker that was originally released in 1989 and has been recreated with South African leather, wood and a jacquard-printed panel.
We were lucky enough to use locally-inspired materials, including wovens, prints and wood, which is a first for adidas Consortium” – Shelflife
Adidas consortium is an exclusive part of the brand which networks with selected stores across the world. These outlets get exclusive access to the most unique Adidas sneakers on the market.
The new Shelflife sneaker will sell at these 80 exclusive consortium boutiques in the US, Europe and the UK. They will also be on sale at Shelflife stores in ZA later this month with an expected retail price of R2,499.
