The Brightwater Commons, a Fountainhead retail asset, in conjunction with the Jozi Chapter of the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) are once again be hosting the Kids in Dire Straites (K.I.D.S) Blanket Run – this time for the 7th year running for the seventh year running. The event is going down from 10:30 on Sunday 18 May and a full day of family fun is planned.
H.O.G. Johannesburg established the blanket run in 2008 and the timing of the drive was chosen specifically to ensure that the blankets are donated to worthy charities before the onset of winter and the freezing cold that it brings to Highveld. The charities benefitting this year are Nokuphila School, Round Table Midrand, Salvation Army-Linden and Abraham Kriel Maria Kloppers Kinderhuis. The group is known for its philanthropic works and has been involved in a number of charitable initiatives over the years (contrary to popular belief).
Licensed bike riders are welcome to join the ride, which will take place from various departure points to The Brightwater Commons on the morning of 18 May.
To add to the excitement the Johannesburg Harley Davidson have donated a Sportster 48 motorbike which will be auctioned off at the event! All proceeds will go to charity.
“We have a number of activities planned to make the day a memorable one,” “The bikes will be arriving from around 10:30 in the morning. It’s a truly festive atmosphere as the community joins forces to welcome the riders. For those who wish to donate a blanket for the cause, Pick n Pay will have blankets on sale. Mix FM will be broadcasting live from the Commons and tenants will be supplying light meals at the event,”
– says Francois du Buisson, Marketing Manager at The Brightwater Commons.
Mix FM’s involvement in the drive is part of the station’s commitment to supporting its community and the charitable initiatives that will benefit those less privileged. The station believes that as a community, we all have a responsibility to care for those around us.
“Through our participation in this event, we hope to inspire everyone to pop in, donate a blanket and have some fun with us,”
-says Mix FM’s Abigail Milosevich.
