Summon the Krakaroo at Everland’s Fundraiser

All words by The Dirty Mexican

It’s that time of the year where every hippy, jock, prep school kid, party animal, art enthusiast, dancer, DJ, photographer, experienced desert dweller and their parents are getting ready for South Africa’s favourite excursion into the Karoo – Afrikaburn.

As a one time burner, I was marvelled at the amount of effort that goes into this hugely popular gathering of like-minded souls. From the setup, which must be a logistical nightmare, to the effort put into by people for their attire, the art installations and of course the diverse amount of awe-inspiring dancefloors. Some of which are basically art installations in their own right.

Enter Everland. An Afrikaburn 2017 Artwork fundraiser. Everland is a collective of burners who are aspiring to take their installation to giant squid, Cthulu-like proportions. Basically, these artists are aiming to create their very own pirate themed installation/stage area, complete with their very own beloved Kraken. Kraken = a mythical giant squid-like monster! I couldn’t be more excited, and I’m not even attending the Burn this year. I will, however, be checking out the fundraiser party. The pre-jol promises the following bells & whistles to wet your burning appetite:

⎈ Funktion One Rig

☠ Decorated Venue

⎈ Visual Spectacles

☠ Custom Stage Design

⎈ 3D Mapping

☠ 1 Full Stocked bar and 1 Shooter Bar

⎈ International & Local Top Artists

☠ Decorated Market with 8 Shops

⎈ Live Art

☠ Healing Corner

⎈ Gifting

☠ Quality foods (Veg/Non-Veg)

Along with these treasures, the guys have amassed the following massive line-up for all you lovers of quality electronic music:

Deep Aztec

Michael Douglas

Jose Noventa (Berlin)

Joey Payne (Belgium)

D.S.K.B & Don Anonymous

Not only will there be killer sound with the help of Funktion Konkepts bringing the heat with their Funktion One rig, there are 2 internationals plus 5 other local heroes. There will also be a fantastic market for those who love impulse shopping, where you can gear up on more awesome nick nacks and outfits for the Burn.

Of course, it’s always fun to dress up and the theme for this soirée is Pirates, mermaids, Mad Max, Vikings, Fairies and the list goes, basically, dress as if you were already dodging dust in Tankwa. Dressing up is mandatory!

Gifting, as it plays a monumental role at Afrikaburn itself is encouraged, so bring along whatever you feel you parting with to a fellow burner.

Tickets are priced as follows:

Early Bird // R150.00

Treasure Bird // R180.00

Lost Bird Door Sales // R200.00

Rumoured to have the blue-prints for Krang's TechnoDrome, stolen straight from Dimension X, he’s the type of guy who exudes so much coolness that he adds whole countries on Facebook at one time instead of just people. Always up for a party and a Tequila shot or two this is the guy who we always call first, both before and after a night out…
