Electric Life Rides, a new South African electric scooter and mobility company is set to launch this month in the Mother City.

The company will launch its first fleet at the group’s hub and partner, The President Hotel in Bantry Bay. The service works via an app, much like Uber, and is powered by vehicle-sharing platform creators, Wunder Mobility.

Once the app is downloaded and activated, users will able to buy in-app ride credits using a bank card. The electric scooter is controlled by the rider, using the app to lock and unlock the vehicle.

Electric Life Rides will be launching its dock-free electric mobile rentals starting exclusively with electric scooters in September. Details on further product introductions, additional fleet locations and partners will be announced as they are confirmed. Electric Life Rides said their planned product range will expand to offer five mobility options in the future, including four-wheeled vehicles.

The vehicles have built-in tracking systems, providing convenience, peace of mind and security by making it easy to locate the nearest vehicle.”

Users will also have the ability to chose to ride per minute, hour, day or month without any traditional ownership or obligations.

The company will be offering a subscription-based model to the South African market for the first 60 days. R1,980 per month will get you a package which includes the commercial electric scooter and charger, unlimited mileage and credits for the month and built-in tracking for safety.

Electric Life Rides also offers a partnership model for businesses that want to deploy and manage a fleet on their real estate/location.
