It’s no secret that the world’s number one series and film streaming site has taken the globe by storm in the past 5 years – not only do they stock the old, the new but they have also been releasing some of the best new entertainment under their own name and are doing so consistently. Collaborating with big stars and big brands, it’s safe to say that Netflix has hijacked the film and TV industry, paving the way for show business going forward – and their latest marketing stunt is a massive testament to that.
In a grandiose and genius gesture to celebrate the release of their latest Netflix Original series, Disjointed, the streaming service released 12 strains of weed based on the series which follows the life of a young woman (played by Kathy Bates) who opens her own dispensary. In a press release, the company said that “each strain was cultivated with the specific shows in mind, designed to complement each title based on their tone. For example, sillier shows may be more Indica dominant, while dramedies will be more Sativa dominant to help the more powerful scenes resonate.”
Dubbed the “Netflix Collection” the strains included three Disjointed blend names – Omega Strain, Eve’s Bush, Rutherford B. Haze and were sold in cool tubs with witty branding. Other strains available were created and tailored to the likes of Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development, and more shows.
