Tonight sees the return of a very special comedy initiative called Stand Up Africa. It brings together Africa’s finest comedians on one stage in Johannesburg, bigger and larger than ever before. Fresh from an incredibly succesful and sold out first instalment in 2011, Stand Up Africa returns for 2 nights only at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City on 1 – 2 February 2013.

Uniting Africa in voice, expression and laughter, this uniquely African concept seeks to build on the incredible momentum generated by the first show in 2011 and coincides with the biggest continental sporting showcase this year, AFCON. It is sure to bring 2 nights of hilarity and laughter to comedy lovers, young and old in Johannesburg.

Stand Up Africa won’t have a host in 2013 – it will have a Foreign Correspondent in David Kibuuka, the hilarious correspondent on Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola, and will see the biggest names that African comedy has to offer in the following; Daliso Chaponda from Malawi, Salvado from Uganda, Nigerian superstar Basketmouth, Carl Joshua Ncube from Zimbabwe, Eric Omondi from Kenya as well as South Africa’s Kagiso Lediga, fresh from touring with his debut one man comedy show “In A Suit” in 2012.

Stand Up Africa has not only become one of the most important comedy brands to emerge from the continent, it is already one of the biggest and has proven to be such a unifying success that requests have been received to take the show to Zimbabwe, Uganda, Nigeria and Kenya.

Stand Up Africa takes place on 1-2 February at 20h00 in the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City. Tickets range from R200 to R250 and are available at Computicket.

Stand Up Africa is proudly brought to you by Podium…The Comedy Merchants & Dream Team SA in association with Dstv.
