The South African film ‘The Recce’ recently won an award for the Best Foreign Drama at the annual Idyllwild International Film Festival in California and was also nominated for a Golden Horn Award for Best Achievement in Art Direction/ Production Design in a Feature Film.
‘The Recce‘ is a war drama that tells the story Henk Viljoen who is wrongfully declared KIA behind enemy lines. Abandoned by his superiors; it’s a race for survival in which his mental and physical abilities are pushed to their limits as he navigates his way through the unforgiving Angolan war zone to make his way home to his loved ones.
The film is directed by Johannes Ferdinand Van Zyl and produced by Cape Town producer ‘Man Makes a Picture’ and was released in cinemas last year. ‘The Recce‘ is the company’s first independent film. The movie’s lead actor, Greg Kriek who is from Cape Town, but is currently lives in the states, accepted the award at the ceremony earlier this month.
