While so many locals are working to flee this beautiful country, millions of tourists are flocking in to experience one of the most gorgeous corners of the earth, our home, South Africa.
Since the end of 2018 numerous travel studies and surveys have been conducted and SA consistently keeps coming out on top. It is the mother city, however, who has been bringing it home – Cape Town was recently voted greatest city on earth for 6 consecutive years, the city was also crowned the leading events and festival destination for 2019, voted fourth most affordable city to travel in 2019 while Jozi was crowned 29th healthiest city in the world. Now, South Africa has scooped up the title as the fifth most instagrammable country in the world.
The survey by Big 7 Travel, took a look at over 197 countries that were ranked according to best places to visit, as well as their visual allure and popularity on Instagram. South Africa achieved a rating of 80.94%, trailing behind Austalia’s 89.98%, Hong Hong’s 86.99%, Canada’s 82.84% and Indonesia’s 81.10%.
Some of the major hotspots for Instagram snaps are all located in, you guessed it – Cape Town. The most popular South African spots included The Diving Board on Table Mountain, the colourful backdrop of the Bo Kaap, The Orlando Towers in Soweto and just about every corner of the Drakensberg mountain range.
