23-year-old, multi-instrumentalist and electronic music producer, Kimon Rayne, has made his way onto our radar like a hurricane. Last year we chatted to the talented muso from Jozi shortly after the release of his EP, Flowers Don’t Speak.

Today, our ‘Song of The Day’ is his latest single titled Sick Day. The track was released on all platforms on 21 August 2020 with a charity event hosted ahead of the launch on August 15th.
Rayne, in partnership with Flow Wear Co. (A clothing brand based in Joburg that donates 10% of all earnings to the SAFMH) and Chief Superintendent Lucky Mbele of the EMPD (who organised the police escort and security) hosted a pop-up charity event at Benoni Plaza, where he and friends handed out close to 200 grilled cheese sandwiches to those in need.
The song itself muses over making a hearty grilled cheese sandwich while staying at home and resting. It’s about not being afraid to take the day off and just relax in bed with your loved one. Sometimes we all need a day off.
