Song of the Day | Qadasi and Maqhinga featuring inviZAble – “Makhweshube”

Comrades Qadasi & Maqhinga (nominated for a SAMA 2017 for “Best Traditional Album”) have joined the #AWEHNESS Campaign in sonic transmissions of a most important message to the people of Earth

“Makhweshube”, originally composed by Maqhinga and recorded with Qadasi, was written to increase awareness around the prevalence of women abuse. In collaboration with InviZAble, the original Maskandi song has been translated into an electronic dancefloor rendition. Whilst having strong Maskandi roots, the song is written in Xhosa and is of an isiMpondo nature, a uniquely South African sound originating from the Eastern Cape:

Umfazi akabethwa
A woman shall not be harmed.
Akabethwa
She will not be harmed.
Umfazi akabethwa
A woman shall not be harmed.
Uyandiva kalokhu
Do I make myself clear?

Rumoured to have the blue-prints for Krang's TechnoDrome, stolen straight from Dimension X, he’s the type of guy who exudes so much coolness that he adds whole countries on Facebook at one time instead of just people. Always up for a party and a Tequila shot or two this is the guy who we always call first, both before and after a night out…
