We have recently picked up on a Drum n Bass tune that has been released on French label ‘Hyperactivity’ and as a lover of South African DnB, this hard-hitting track really hits the spot. This beautiful collab brings together 3 South African artists in the form of Dopplershift and Filth on production and Mess Jilla, putting the finish touches on the vocals throughout the track.
Keiran Ritson (Dopplershift), owner of bass hitting imprint, Rubricate Records teaming up with French label HYPERACTIVITY MUSIC and long-time friend and Dj, Vama Xoko (Filth), they set out to write a melodic, downtempo record, with the thought of a vocal in mind.
The track itself is an ode to relationships, letting go and starting over. The rolling style drums and hard-hitting basslines encompass the emotion felt when dealing with hardships in trying times. As the constant struggles of finding decent vocalists to fit high paced music in South Africa continues, enter Jess Miller (Mess Jilla), with her atmospheric vocals that give the track a euphoric floating sense and an emotive element
After connecting online, bouncing ideas back and forth, the trio composed a timeless, meaningful classic that pushes the boundaries within the South African music culture
