Sin+Tax in Johannesburg is rated as one of the best bars in the world

The world’s 50 best bars for 2019 was announced last month on September 23 with the official awards ceremony in London taking place last Thursday, 3rd October.

‘The 50 Best’ is an annual ranking of global hospitality industries, owned and organized by William Reed Business Media, the group behind the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards. Winners and nominees are selected and voted for by more than 500 drinks experts from around the world.

Dante, a bar in New York’s Greenwich Village, was named as the best bar in the world with Connaught Bar in London taking second place, followed by Florería Atlántico in Buenos Aires.

Among the extended list of 51-100 best bars in the world is Johannesburg’s Sin+Tax at number 88. Located behind the popular Coalition eatery in Johannesburg is the swanky cocktail bar that locals have come to love.

According to EatOut, renowned mixologist, Julian Short is responsible for this cocktail bar adjoining Coalition on Bolton Road. Short trained many businesses in the art of mixology and shared his skills across Sweden, Mexico, Scotland and Cuba before opening up his own cocktail bar.
