Showmax Pro

Africa’s video-on-demand service, Showmax announced it will be launching a new extension of its platform called Showmax Pro.

The Multichoice-owned company’s new offering will bundle the existing entertainment service with additional music channels, news, and live content from SuperSport.

Although the service will initially roll out in Nigeria and Kenya from 7 July 2020, additional countries will follow shortly after. The service is also confirmed to launch in South Africa as part of the rollout, however, a specific launch date has yet to be confirmed but the entire process is expected to be completed within 6-8 weeks with coverage across sub-Saharan Africa.

According to Multichoice, Showmax Pro will feature all Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, and PSL games as well as a wide range of live sports events including IAAF Athletics, professional boxing, and the world’s biggest marathons.

In June 2019, Showmax began testing live sport-streaming (which was received well by its audience) that will also form an integral part of the new Showmax Pro service.

The below table shows what the service will offer in Kenya and Nigeria and potentially the rest of Subsaharan Africa. Take a look and for more information visit the Showmax website.
