Saggy Stone is gearing up for their third annual celebration of fine local music and craft beer at the home of Saggy Stone’s Brewing Company, on the Amandalia farm, situated in the picturesque Nuy Valley of Robertson.
Festival-goers can look forward to another family-friendly event next year, featuring some of the countries top live acts, performing over a massive 12-hour line-up. The festival will also host a variety of gourmet food trucks and have their signature Saggy Stone beer on tap all day long, of course!
Saggy Stone Beer & Music Festival 2019 will take place February 9th next year. Camping facilities will also be available again and Early Bird tickets are currently on sale. For now, let’s take a look at the first wave of artists that have been confirmed to perform at #SSBMF 2019, listed below.
Shortstraw is an indie rock band from Jozi who have earned themselves a place as one of the biggest bands in the country, with some of the most loyal fans a band could ask for. After 2014 took the band outside South Africa, Shortstraw has taken their unique and local “Indie-Bele” sound to the rest of the world.
So far they’ve had three singles from their 2013 album ‘Good Morning, Sunshine’ placed within the top 5 of the 5FM Top40 countdown, the country’s biggest chart radio show. Along with winning multiple awards the band has also had the amazing opportunity to have toured with many great international bands, both here in SA and abroad such as The Kooks (UK), The Jungle Giants (AUS), Bombay Bicycle Club (UK), Last Dinosaurs (AUS), and the Dune Rats (AUS).
Chart-topping electronic pop duo bringing the funk + R&B vibe. With a natural fusion of pop, electro, funk and soul, EASY FREAK are setting the South African music scene alight, topping charts across the country on 5FM Top 30, Pop Top 10 and YFM Top 40. The Durban duo made up of Dom Hurd and Jude Kenrick have unequivocally been making waves and getting crowds moving to a fresh and unique sound.
They have made their mark playing at some of South Africa’s biggest music festivals including; Zakifo, Durban Picnic Day, Oppikoppi and Music at the Lake as well as Swaziland’s magical Bushfire Festival. Sharing the stage with the likes of the legendary Damien Marley, Riky Rick, Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Micasa, Sketchy Bongo & The Wolfpack, Matthew Mole and so many of Mzansi’s favourites – they’ve absolutely got the nation’s attention at the moment.
Josh Kempen is a truly talented South African singer-songwriter whose stripped back acoustic and electric performances have an ease of ‘presence’, while captivating audiences with his simple stories and gravelled voice.
Previously nominated as “Song Writer of the Year” by SAMRO, Josh has been touring the SA festival circuit and recently rocked out on the Oppikoppi stage. To top it off, CPT based Thor Rixon recognized his natural talent and recently produced Josh’s latest EP, a nostalgic 1950’s style throwback, interlaced with mid-tempo tales of love and travel, which earned him a place on Openroom’s top 5 SA acts
