On Monday night I popped down to the opening of the SAcamera Superstore in Loop Street, Cape Town.
The seven year strong online retailer recognised a gap in the market for a CBD based professional camera showroom store and hence the store came to fruition. The signature shop’s concept boasts unique features including the first active lighting display of its kind in the Mother City, the widest range of photographic products in the country and is the first official state of the art Leica boutique store in South Africa.
Guests were privy to a bouquet of camera flashing entertainment, including interactive guest photography using Lomography equipment, GoPro action camera display (these can be attached to surf boards/motorbikes and anything else really that moves), an Olympus Tough Camera ice sculpture display, 40x Sandisk 8 Gig Contour flash drives hand-outs, and a showcase of the SAcamera Facebook photo competition winner’s work.
Rounding up the evening was a prize draw for two pairs of Bushnell Binoculars, which were handed over to lucky winners Dani Jibrail and Darryn van der Walt.
“We’re extremely excited about the opportunity to be one of the retailers who supply aspiring photographers, film studios and professional photographers in the city centre. I believe we will become the go to store for friendly service, the best prices and widest selection of photo, imaging and video products in the market.” says co-founder of SAcamera, Jesse Hemson-Struthers.
