Olmeca Presents: GRIETFEST 2014 (WIN)

The big news this week is the triumphant 4th return of GRIETFEST – the alternative festival for alternative people. In the past some legendary names have graced the stages of the underground dance music festival including the likes of Bart B More, Fool, HAEZER, Tai, The Upbeats, TC, Trumpdisco, Pelussje, QG and more. It’s the closest thing to a real rave that we’ve got and this year will be the last year that GRIETFEST will be held in TOWN HALL STREET before it moves on to a bigger and less intimate venue.

The International acts that are confirmed for this year are:

KOAN SOUND (UK, OWLSA REC)
BLACK SUN EMPIRE (NE, BLACK SUN EMPIRE REC)
FAR TOO LOUD (UK, FUNKATECH REC)
ETNIK (DE, OWLSA REC).

Join the GRIETFEST Fanpage here – and find out more about the event on Facebook.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
This year they’re going big on production, so expect the best sound & lighting design!
4 x Internationals
4 x Stages
MASSIVE Sound!
EPIC Lighting!
30 plus of SA’s BEST DJ/Producers!

This year the Science Frikshun Stage will run until 23:00 and then move to the main stage. Town Hall will then have the GO!GO! takeover. We’ll be featuring some of the local and international artists in the lead up to the event here on MyCityByNight – so keep an eye out for that.

  1. I’d like to see a Das Kapital and Koan Sound collaboration.. and would like GRIETFEST tickets of course 😛

  2. I honestly believe that the best collab out of all of these artists would be Black Sun Empire and Niskerone. Their styles would compliment each other and I think they would be able to put on quite a banger of a show. This will be one awesome event! Thanks Olmeca! Cheers!

  3. I think a collaboration tour with Black Sun Empire, Hyphen, RudeOne, Das Kapital and Etnik would tare audiences a new one! 😛

    Can’t wait for GRIET!

  4. Would be great to see HAZER (my favorite SA act) collaborate with international genius like Far too Loud. I’m thinking HAZER could teach him a thing or two!! The sound would be too sick!Griet!

  5. Rudeone and Black Sun Empire colab would be incredible!! The mix of BSE’s dark and heavy DNB and our local kingpin of the DNB scene would truly make for something epic and they would create something brutal which we don’t see very often in SA!!!!

  6. Black sun empire teamed with our very own niskerone!!!! Good lord tge fun. Dnb gods vs Dnb god.. my soul would be split into a million shards.. the fourth installment of the grietfest basstown heavy.. oh oh the town of braamfontein will be cherry.. allow me the ticket on the one way train to euphoria..

  7. THE One and only Grimehouse and KOAN Sound, you can’t beat the filth monster and he deserves more recognition. Collaborating with KOAN Sound will allow him the international recognition and break he needs, the world needs to hear this guy:) He makes the sickest beats and invests so much time in his music when that mask is on and as soon as it comes off, Keaton invests his time helping animals. What a well rounded DJ. Winning tickets to see this local hero would make me uber happy and make it the best Grietfest to date with such an awesome guaranteed line-up. Thanks Olmeca and MyCityByNight!!

  8. Black Sun Empire and Mr Mon tasty tasty beats:) love them both it would be a rad collaboration!!!:)

  9. I’d love to see a collaboration on a track, or maybe a few tracks, or maybe a whole album, followed by a tour and then a monument erected in the honour of Niskerone and Black Sun Empire. Gimme that drum & bass.

  10. Niskerone and Haezer! Their styles are so different and I’d like to see how they combine them into one set. Could be a legendary combination with those two classy acts…

  11. Without a doubt, it will have to be Black Sun Empire and Adamski. Maybe add Reepa for a 3-way collab to make up the ultimate experience for D&B heads :).

  12. Well, I’d say Sibot and Phat Jack. Despite them being in different genres, could you imagine the sound explosion that would be created.

  13. A trifecta of Liver, Grimehouse and Das Kapital at the GO! GO! Town Hall Take Over would be beyond ridiculous. Please make this happen.

  14. Id like to see KOAN SOUND because they make me lose my face everytime i listen to them! And our local artist is NISKERONE of course!! How amazing is his drum and bass?!?!?! Ohhhmyyyy efff!

  15. Congrats to David Wilson and Yoliswa, you’ll be receiving details for the issuing of your tickets shortly! 🙂 See you there!
