Old Mutual Series: Karen Zoid in PTA and JHB Botanical Gardens

Karen Zoid will be giving the peeps up in Pretoria and Jozi a taste of outdoor goodness when she performs as part of the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens Series. It’s not quite as awesome as the Cape Town installment, due to the Mother City being generally cooler than anywhere else in the country.

She will be at the PTA Botanical Gardens on Sunday 14 Aug and at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens on Sun 21 Aug.

Karen has been in the local music industry for over 10 years now, making her somewhat of a veteran. The release of Karen Zoid`s first solo album (Poles Apart), a decade ago 10 years ago fired the imagination of both critics and the public when she burst on the scene with the song Afrikaners is plesierig. The song became iconic and Karen Zoid became South Africa’s unofficial queen of rock.

Since then she’s won a SAMA for Best Female Artist along with numerous other awards, performing alongside international artists like John Mayer, Annie Lennox, Metallica and Hothouse Flowers.

5 solo-abums and 10 years later, the upcoming shows at the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens Concert series are part of a national AFRIKANERS IS PLESIERIG tour to celebrate a decade in the music industry. Karen Zoid will be performing at the Botanical Gardens in Pretoria on Sunday 14 August and at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens on Sunday 21 August.
