Old Mutual Music at the Lake returns to the breathtaking Durban Botanic Gardens for a special and intimate Valentine’s show featuring Ard Matthews and the Durban City Orchestra on Thursday,14 February, 2013.
This special concert will see a unique five (5) song collaboration between the talented Ard Matthews and the enchanting Durban City Orchestra. The Durban City Orchestra will also perform 3-4 of their own incredible compilations before Ard Matthews wows the crowd with a couple of his own tunes.
Featuring around 40 members composed of both learners and experienced musicians from diverse backgrounds reflecting our rainbow nation, the Durban City Orchestra’s repertoire combines the classical and symphonic genres with popular and contemporary styles.
The Botanic Gardens have already presented live concerts of some of the most talented and accomplished musicians in South Africa. Old Mutual’s continued association with the Botanic Gardens allows them to ensure that funds are raised to maintain and improve biodiversity at this important public space. Proceeds from the performances go towards an innovative people and plant development programme, the Garden Window Project, within the Durban Botanic Gardens and the Wildlands Conservation Trust’s Trees for Life initiative which sees community members growing trees to support their livelihoods.
