We’re massive fans of the hugely successful virtual band Gorillaz and are happy to report that after a fairly sizable hiatus from the music production scene that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett are back with some new music. The brand new track, released last week is called Saturnz Barz (Spirit House) and features Popcaan.
The song is naturally accompanied by a short animated film, where you get to see the gang investigating a creepy haunted house and running into quite a bit of trouble in the process:
There’s more good news from the band, after they announced that there’s a brand new album coming out called Humanz, dropping on April 28th. As well as Popcaan, guests on the album include Grace Jones, De La Soul, Savages’ Jehnny Beth, Danny Brown, Pusha T, Mavis Staples, Kali Uchis, Kelela, Vince Staples, DRAM, Jamie Principle, Kilo Kish, Anthony Hamilton, Peven Everett, and Zebra Katz.
Damon Albarn had this to say about it:
We’re in transition we’re turning into something else.
This album came from this dark fantasy that came into my head at the beginning of last year. Just imagine the most weirdest, most unpredictable thing happening that changes everything about the world.
How will you feel on that night? It’s not about Donald Trump at all, but we were imagining that happening in a way, and that was our dark fantasy that became a reality.
