The entire world has been advised to stay at home as much as possible during these uncertain times. While South Africa isn’t technically on full lockdown yet, our reported cases of COVID19 have risen by 35%, with the new total sitting at 85 cases as of Wednesday 18 March.

All public gatherings have been cancelled with the city of Cape Town beginning the process of revoking all event permits until further notice. The city has also shut down a long list of public facilities and has advised all South Africans against any unnecessary travel.

Spending more time at home can be a joy for most people but for some, it can get pretty lonely. Watching movies, series and documentaries is a go-to time killer for many people stuck at home right now and Netflix has decided to make that past-time a little more engaging with their latest offering – Netflix Party, a new and free Chrome browser extension that allows you to watch your favourite shows along with your friends and family.

Netflix Party works by syncing the chosen film or show so everyone is watching in tandem. What’s even more exciting is that there’s a chat function alongside the video player so everyone can chime in. For more information and to download the extension for free, visit NetflixParty.com
