National Cleavage Day 2010

Good Morning MyCityByNight loyal readers!! It gives me great pleasure to announce the arrival of one of my favourite days of the year- National Cleavage Day (abbreviated as NCD). Today is all about BOOBS

Let me give you little bit of background to NCD-

National Cleavage Day is an annual celebration, which started way back in 2002 that is held during the month of April, sponsored by the bra queens WONDERBRA, local radio station 5fm and Cosmopolitan Magazine.

According to Samantha Paterson, the then brand manager for Wonderbra, NCD started as a way for women across the country to come together and demonstrate their power in all facets of life (including over men & not so straight women) by doning a slightly more “uplifting” bra and showing off their goodies.

Anita Meiring, public relations consultant for Wonderbra, added that the day was aimed at allowing women to realise that their cleavage is something unique and that they should be proud of it.

In the words of Paterson “It gives women a chance to be beautiful and glow in the furtive, yet appreciative, glances their cleavage evokes from men (and women). She also explained that “It gives men a legitimate reason to stare at boobs.” – haha if only just for one day 🙂

Apart from being a bit of a lag (laugh), the day is also about creating awareness around Leukemia, Breast Cancer and other diseases affecting SA society as a whole. A percentage of all bra’s sold at Wonderbra during this month and the upcoming period will be donated to a worthy cause as was the case with Sunflower Fund, a non-governmental and non-profit organisation based in Cape Town during the noughties.

So please girls- if you’re not already proudly displaying those ASSETS please rock them tonight when you’re out on the town… We’ll all be VEEEERRRRYYY appreciative 😉
