Today we’re checking out the official music video for the Coolest Kids in Africa, the trap inspired anthem by Davido featuring South African Hip Hop sensation Nasty C. Directed by Sesan and shot in South Africa – the two artists flex their lyrical skills against the backdrop of the Jozi skyline and spinning cars.
Not many music artists can claim iconic status within just five years of starting out, but at the age of 23, the Atlanta-born Nigerian singer/songwriter, producer and label owner can do just that. Davido – (real name David Adedeji Adeleke), is one of the most recognised flag bearers for the current wave of African artists on the rise. Charging forth onto the music landscape with the monstrous soaring classic Dami Duro in 2012, he has since then become the talk of an entire continent, securing not just the buy-in of African fans by the multitude but also unanimous media acknowledgment, with accolades including a plethora of nominations for prestigious awards and winning two MTV Africa Music Awards and a BET Award.
Nasty C originates from Durban and started rapping at the age of nine, having been influenced by his older brother who was a producer at the time. He eventually mastered the process of music production and began adding his vocals on the beats he was making, later signing to Durban based artist management company, Free World Music. Nasty C released his first mixtape One Kid a Thousand Coffins on 24 May 2013 and has since claimed several accolades for his efforts in the music business.
