*************************The Rudimentals *********************

“We said, let’s just play music, never mind what it’s called…” – Ross

The new Rudimentals band consists of musicians with various and diverse backgrounds: Marlon “Khaos” Cotterel, from Jamaica, and Abdi Whosane Pangaea, from Brooklyn, New York, are the two models (you’ve seen them in Puma, Hyundai, Hugo Boss and Armani print and TV adverts). King Labash is a well known Zimbabwean dancehall and reggae toaster, Trumpeter Jody Engelbrecht is a music teacher; bassist Errol “Bong” Strachan played with Cape Town reggae and crossover bands like Sons of Selassie, Roots Rockers, Blunt and Braindead, and McDonald runs Hey Papa Legend studios, also plays for Hog Hoggidy Hog. Simon Bates, the Sax player, is also a music teacher. The band’s lead guitarist, “Doc” Mike Levy, has been playing for more than 35 years and is, in fact, a medical doctor. Founding lead vocalist T-Boss Maidza is an environmental consultant and author of a study on the fluidization of ferrochrome alloy slag.

**************************Bed On Bricks ************************

Born in 2003 in the shadow of Table Mountain, Bed on Bricks celebrates their 10th birthday this year. A band that has appeared on stages all around South Africa, headlining many local festivals and touring the country, while also releasing three studio albums, namely ‘Humanarium’ (2003), If You See Kay (2005) and Royal Honey (2008), as well as a live acoustic album, ‘Takeaways’ in 2006.

Singer Mike Hardy’s lyrics are smart, positive, informed and questioning. Whether they are rapped or sung, they remain inspired by life in urban Cape Town. Schalk van der Merwe’s bass, Tim Rankin’s drums and Dave van der Linden’s guitar are played with passion and energy.

Bed on Bricks are into the sweetness of life at the Southern tip of Africa and playing their instruments for the love of it. And man do they love it!

**************************Bambeano ****************************

A bearded blur, bouncing relentlessly behind the decks. Hyped up on bass and a worrying blood-taurine ratio, this monkey-brandishing bass-bandit brings a much needed child-like energy to any gathering where Nu-world, Swing or Balkan beats are being blasted.

Endemic to the dance-floors of Cape Town’s eclectic outdoor parties, Bambeano made his debut as an outdoor Swing DJ during Earthdance 2012. Easily recognizable by his unkempt facial hair, his up-beat and extremely danceable tunes. So shine your dancing shoes, polish up on your Lindy-Hop, because the good times are just getting started!

Rumoured to have the blue-prints for Krang's TechnoDrome, stolen straight from Dimension X, he’s the type of guy who exudes so much coolness that he adds whole countries on Facebook at one time instead of just people. Always up for a party and a Tequila shot or two this is the guy who we always call first, both before and after a night out…
