We’re really starting to push out some fantastic music here in South Africa and the latest offering from Cape Town’s independent rap duo, Ill Skillz entitled To The Beat Ya’ll (T.T.B.Y) really demonstrates what there is to celebrate.
The guys are really talented and if this track is an indication of what’s to come from their upcoming album Notes From The Native Yard, set for October this year then we could be looking at one of the country’s future chart-topping acts.
To The Beat Ya’ll – produced by the gifted and well-respected Pretoria-based producer, J-One – features a sample from Common’s legendary, I Used To Love H.E.R track and is pretty tidy.
“This track is dedicated to all our fans who have been following and supporting us from the very beginning.”
– Says Jimmy Flexx.
Ill Skillz has been around since 2005 and they’ve already shared the stage with popular local and international acts such as Slum Village, People Under the Stairs and Travis McCoy. They’ve also toured to London and Germany and featured in numerous high-circulation publications such as Hype Magazine and Rolling Stone Magazine.
