As one of the top exports of the SA electronic dance scene, Ebenhaezer Smal aka HAEZER has established himself as a leader in the bass-heavy electro genre which has gained widespread popularity in dance clubs around the world.
Smal began his creative career as an offline editor for the Post Production company ‘Priest’. After three years of editing ads, short films and documentaries, he started his music career under the alias ‘HAEZER’, reaching over 5 million plays on Spotify alone.
With a Cannes Lion award for his music video ‘Minted’, song placement on the Need for Speed: Rivals game, song feature on Steve Aoki’s BBC essential mix, fifteen international DJ tours and a Webster Hall performance in New York City, Ebenhaezer has firmly established his name in music and sound design for film, tv and games.
More recently, his signature scores featured in Ryan Kruger’s new indie comedy-horror Fried Barry. As Screen Realm describes it, “Haezer’s screeching, electric shock of a score makes Barry’s journey relentlessly unnerving. It brings to mind the abrasive and inescapable sonic pummeling of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and adds a whole new dimension to Barry’s messed-up odyssey.”

Another big release for HAEZER this month is his latest albulm, titled Exit. Despite an impressive and extensive body of work, the 11 track offering is HAEZER’s first-ever, full-length album. According to the artist, it’s taken “twelve years to muster up the courage and creativity” to release the album. And in our opinion, it’s been bloody well worth the wait.
