The Ndlovu Youth Choir recently returned to South Africa after making it to the finals in one of the world’s biggest talent competitions and TV shows, America’s Got Talent. While the choir didn’t take first place on AGT, they did receive a generous R 1 million cheque from the government with Limpopo’s MEC for Arts and Culture, Thandi Moraga, handing them the gift.
In even more exciting news, choir director Ralf Schmitt revealed to 702’s Afternoon Drive on Thursday that the choir had been offered a recording deal by music mogul and AGT co-founder, Simon Cowell.
“We have a lot of plans and we are very excited that Simon Cowell and his company have exercised their option to sign the choir. Together with Sony Music Entertainment in South Africa, we are working on some very exciting projects. I can’t let the cat out of the bag too soon, but hopefully, they will be some beautiful things coming” Schmitt told 702.
Schmitt did not confirm if the deal was accepted but did say he the choir was working on an album. Watch their incredible homecoming at OR Thambo in Johannesburg as well as the 702 interviews below and read more on the latest local news right here.
