Surviving Jeffrey Epstein

Lifetime (the same network behind Surviving R.Kelly) has released an official trailer for their new feature, similarly titled ‘Surviving Jeffrey Epstein’.

The investigative documentary, that’ll air on Aug 9 and 10, will feature 8 survivors who will narrate the film. Surviving Jeffrey Epstein investigates the charges against the New York financier and features firsthand accounts and insights from those who have spent time with him.

In 2005 police began investigating Epstein after a parent reported that Epstein had sexually abused her 14-year-old daughter. He pleaded guilty and was convicted in 2008 of procuring an underage girl for prostitution and of soliciting a prostitute.

He was only convicted of only these two crimes as part of a plea deal but federal officials had in fact identified 36 girls, some as young as 14 years old, who were allegedly abused by Jeffrey Epstein. He served a mere 13 months in custody and got to enjoy extensive work release, leaving the prison complex for entire days.

It all eventually caught up with Epstein who was arrested again on July 6, 2019 – at the height of the #MeToo movement- on federal charges for the sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York. Jeffrey Epstein later died in his jail cell on August 10, 2019. The medical examiner ruled the death a suicide, although Epstein’s lawyers have disputed the ruling.

Surviving Jeffrey Epstein is directed by Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern and executive produced by Lifetime’s Shura Davison and Gena McCarthy. Watch the trailer in full below.
