I try not to get excited about movies these days because inevitably, I set myself up for a big let down when I eventually get down to watching the flick and it doesn’t live up to those grandiose expectations. That being said – I think I may have come across what is going to be the best movie of all time – Kung Fury.
What started out as a movie project called Kung Fury, which had just one trailer released in an effort to raise the $200,000 needed via Kickstarter to complete the thirty minute movie – has now reached its goal only days later. The Kung Fury trailer racked up over 1.2 million views on YouTube in its first day and this figure has continued to climb since then.
The movie is an epic action comedy loosely based on the cop and Kung Fu movies of the 80’s and features everything from arcade-robots to dinosaurs, nazis (one of which is called the Kung Fuhrer), vikings, norse gods, mutants and of course, a super kung fu-cop called Kung Fury.
Kung Fury has reached its $200K funding goal that the director needed to complete the visual effects and release a 30 minute film for free online, however a stretch goal of $1 million has been set and if reached the director will be re-write and release Kung Fury as a full-length feature film.
