The Hacker aka Michel Amato has been a driving force in French and international electronic music since the early 90’s. Best know for his work with Miss Kittin as Miss Kittin and The Hacker which was released on DJ Hell’s seminal International DJ Gigolo records and catapulted him into the spotlight, garnering global recognition and performances as well as requests to remix legends like Nitzer Ebb, Fisherspooner and Mark Almond.
In 1998 he founded his own label Goodlife Records (a classic track from Inner City) with his friends Oxia and Alex Reynaud. His debut album on the label, Melodies En Sous-Sol, was underpinned by influences such as New Order, Dopplereffekt and PCP and is said to have collectively expressed his musical reverie.
The album and the 12″ releases Electronic Existentialist (Missile), Cabaret Futura (Feis) and the remix of Greed (Laurent Garnier) further entrenched the fact that The Hacker was the new messenger of the French Electronic scene.
In 2009 he started the Zone label releasing prolific French artists like Gesaffelstein, Crackboy and Arnaud Rebotini of Black Strobe fame. Recent releases on Joakiam ‘s Tigersushi label, Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant recordings and Different (PIAS) along with DJ performances around the world have ensured The Hacker remains at the forefront of a scene he has been so pivotal in shaping.
