Durbanites will be pleased to know that one of South Africa’s most celebrated music groups, Just Jinjer are set to headline the second Old Mutual Music at the Lake concert of 2014 at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Sunday, 16 March with acoustic duo, The Kickstands as the support act.
Since cracking the local market all those years ago, Just Jinjer have shared the stage with big name acts like Corinne Bailey Rae, Ludacris and Angelique Kidjo, to name a few. Front-man, Ard Matthews, wowed the crowds when he performed at the scenic location in 2013 and this year, he’s back with the sought after band:
“I’m so excited about performing at the gardens again. We have some great new material and of course all the favourites,” said Matthews. “I’m from Durban, so I’m very excited to perform at one of my favourite venues.”
The band is currently recording their 9th studio album and are super keen to get in front of their fans to perform live in the spectacular Durban Botanical Gardens. Accompanying Just Jinjer is the Durban-born and acoustic duo, The Kickstands. The band’s achievements include playing on large stages such as Splashy Fen, Durban Day and the FIFA World Cup. This dynamic, versatile and zealous duo has managed to merge impressive musicianship with accessible songwriting and melody that’s been met with mammoth popularity.
