A study by TravelSupermarket, consisting of 100 top destinations and information sourced from the likes of Yelp and TripAdvisor has ranked the top health orientated cities based on factors such as; the number of parks, gym and fitness centres, spas, yoga and pilates locations, health food shops, and vegan option restaurants. Paris was rated as the healthiest city in the world followed by Thailand’s Chiang Mai in second place and Pattaya in fourth place.

Putting South Africa on the map is not Cape Town as many of you may have thought. In fact, Cape Town doesn’t even make the top 50. Representing South Africa as the most health-conscious city is Johannesburg ranking at 29th on the global list. With apparently over 32 spas, 145 vegan-option restaurants, 17 parks/green spaces and plenty of fitness centres, yoga studios and health food shops, Jozi is a health lovers haven.

Known to most as Joburg or Jozi, this glorious sunshine city is nestled in the heart of South Africa and has a number of successful urban-renewal projects boasting hipster cafes and eateries. Be sure to schedule in a visit to Constitution Hill while in the city and walk around the prison to get your daily steps up.”
