Investec recently announced its plans to introduce new leave and dress practices in the workplace. The company recently released a statement in which it detailed that all South African Investec employees would soon have “unlimited” leave days per year (which won’t affect anyone’s salary as long as deadlines are met) and also will no longer restrict their employees dress choice or style – aside from important and formal meetings.
“Investec is introducing new leave and dress practices for all South African employees. Staff will have the option to move onto a new leave system which will not seek to limit the number of days they can take per year. The new dress policy will give staff the freedom to choose how to dress based on their tasks/meetings for the day.”
The move is an effort to focus on paying their staff for the quality of their work and performance rather than the hours they worked. Above and beyond the new conduct codes, Investec will also reward their staff with significant bonuses for “being innovative and going above and beyond the basic requirements.”
Many South Africans are excited by the news of Investec’s innovative step forward and have high hopes that their own companies might someday consider the same path. Investec plans to implement their new conduct rules by September this year.
