You’ve probably never heard of David Klein but he revolutionized the candy industry back in 1976 when he invented the Jelly Bean, one of today’s most popular candy sold worldwide under various brands. Jelly Beans were made especially popular by the 40th POTUS, Ronald Reagan, who fell in love with the candy. In 1980, Klein sold the rights to his company Jelly Belly to the Herman Goelitz Candy Co. which later changed its name to the Jelly Belly Company and still continues to rake in u to $190 million in profits annually.

Klein details his experience creating and losing the rights to the Jelly Belly brand in the 2011 documentary, “Candyman: The David Klein Story.”Though he’s called it the worst mistake of his life, the experience didn’t hinder his passion and desire to continue creating sweet delights.

Now, four decades later, Jelly Bean OG, David Klein is re-creating his trademark treat. After recently becoming aware of the benefits of CBD, Klein decided to infuse the sugary beans with cannabidiol. “I love candy,” he told Cannabis Aficionado. “Not a day goes by where not only do I eat candy in some form, but I think about new candy ideas.” Klein, he explained, “And I said to myself, ‘is anybody doing a jelly bean with CBD?’”

The miniature, gourmet beans are created under his new company, Spectrum Confections, which produces CBD-infused jelly beans that come in 38 different flavours.

“Toasted marshmallow, pina colada, strawberry cheesecake, which is one of my favourites,” Klein continued. Other flavours will include cinnamon, spicey Liquorice, and mango [which] tastes more like mango than mango does.” The jelly beans are perfectly proper dosed with CBD – 10 ml per each bean makes self-dosing simple and easy. Spectrum Confection’s CBD jelly beans will also come in sugar-free varieties and will not include THC for now.

Check out Spectrum Confections’ inventory which features an assortment of sweet, sour and sugar-free jelly beans. Other selections include; Sour Cherry Goosebumps, Sweet and Spice and Everything Nice drops, and a CBD 7-day pack. About two years from now, everybody is going to laugh at how long it took to get there.” – David Klein on legalization
